2026 Red Bag Program
Help Make Christmas Brighter for a Child in Need
Each year, St. Michael the Archangel partners with Christmas Families and Red Bags KC to bring Christmas joy to children and families in our Kansas City community.
Through this program, St. Michael families can sponsor local foster children, low-income families, and at-risk youth by providing essential items and Christmas gifts from their personalized wish lists.
Last year, our parish came together to provide Christmas for more than 175 children. We hope you’ll join us again this year! For more information on the Kansas City Red Bag Program.
How It Works
When you sign up to sponsor a child, you will receive information about the child along with a personalized shopping list.
Each list includes mandatory items, such as:
● Clothing
● Underwear
● Winter coat
● Shoes or other necessities
● Personal care items
You’ll also receive a Christmas wish list with items the child would love to receive. While wish-list items are not mandatory, they are encouraged whenever possible.
NEW THIS YEAR: GIFTS WILL BE UNWRAPPED
At the request of Red Bags KC, all gifts will be delivered UNWRAPPED this year.
Social workers and foster families prefer unwrapped gifts so they can screen for potential triggers and help ensure siblings receive a similar amount and value of gifts.
We know wrapping the presents has traditionally been part of the fun, but we are excited to embrace this change and focus on what matters most: meeting a child’s needs and bringing Christmas joy.
