Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen who value our belief in the Roman Catholic Church, promoting our Christian beliefs through our example in the works of charity and support of our Parishes, Priests and families. St. Michael the Archangel Knights of Columbus Council 12577 is a member of the national Knights of Columbus organization. Our Knights council supports the St. Michael the Archangel Parish community in Leawood, KS, its families and religious orders by volunteering in support of parish activities and hosting a variety of social events and fundraisers. Supported Defenders' Ball – Multiple Knight’s assisting and a $25,000 donation to Fund the Need – Kitchen Upgrades in Father Porter Hall

Sponsoring and managing the K of C annual Free Throw Contest for over 40 SMA school kids
Held a “first” annual holiday party recognizing the support that the Knights receive from spouses, significant others, and parish staff for the many yearly activities in support of charity, unity, and fraternity within the SMA community and archdiocese
December 2025
Sponsored and cooked a pancake breakfast in support of Photos with Santa for SMA children and parishioners.
Sponsored a Special Food Drive collection to assist Catholic Charities with low food inventories resulting from the recent government shutdown that saw over $1,650 in cash donations, and a completely full truck load of donated food items.
Continued prayers for vocations within the Catholic Church and St. Michaels, while also holding a Holiday Season Potluck Dinner and Secret Santa exchange.
November 2025
Handed out Chocolate Advent Calendars and Keep Christ in Christmas magnets for donations to support Coats for Kids, donating more than 300 coats to kids across Kansas.
Provided a $500 donation to each of 5 seminarians in support of their ongoing religious vocations and formation.
Collected 525 turkeys, over 5000 lbs. of food donations, and $5,890 cash donation in support of Catholic Charities helping those in need this holiday season.
Donated $400 to the Wyandotte Pregnancy Center via matching funds from the Kansas State Supreme Council based on SMA’s baby bottle money collections.
Donated $1925 to iCare Ministries, Inc resulting from the tootsie roll drive and SMA parishioner contributions.
October 2025
Participated in the annual Christmas in October event assisting a widower living in Kansas City, KS making critical home improvements and repairs.
Handed out Tootsie Rolls for donations to support the iCare Initiative.
September 2025
Held Quarterly Food Drive collection of over 3655 pounds of food and $1085 in money for Catholic Charities through the generosity of SMA parishioners
Made major upgrades and improvements to the Knights Holy Smoker for the upcoming Parish picnic and future Fish Fry’s
Prepared, cooked, and fed approximately 1000 people at the St. Michaels annual Parish Picnic.

Completed football raffle ticket sales funding seminarians in most need of financial assistance.
Donated funds to the Father Kapaun statute to be built at the State Capitol in Topeka
Made donation of over $9,100 to Olathe/Wyandotte Pregnancy Center from funds raised in the Baby Bottle Drive, Life Savers, and Mother's Day Roses activities.
Contributed $1000 towards helping purchase a new tabernacle for a parish in Uganda
