About Our Council
Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen who value our belief in the Roman Catholic Church, promoting our Christian beliefs through our example in the works of charity and support of our Parishes, Priests and families.
St. Michael the Archangel Knights of Columbus Council 12577 is a member of the national Knights of Columbus organization. Our Knights council supports the St. Michael the Archangel Parish community in Leawood, KS, its families and religious orders by volunteering in support of parish activities and hosting a variety of social events and fundraisers. free throw championship-thurs, jan 8 at 3:30 pm-school
Come show off your basketball skills at the 2026 Knights of Columbus annual Free Throw Championship on Thursday, January, 8, 2026. The event is open to all boys and girls, ages 9 to 14, as of January 1, 2026. The event will begin at 4 P.M. and run until approximately 5:30. The gym will open at 3:30 for warming up prior to the start. Winners of each age/gender division will receive a prize and will advance to the District contest.
We strongly recommend each participant complete an entry form in advance to the contest by accessing online at:

- Sponsored and cooked a pancake breakfast in support of Photos with Santa for SMA children and parishioners.
- Sponsored a Special Food Drive collection to assist Catholic Charities with low food inventories resulting from the recent government shutdown that saw over $1,650 in cash donations, and a completely full truck load of donated food items.
- Continued prayers for vocations within the Catholic Church and St. Michaels, while also holding a Holiday Season Potluck Dinner and Secret Santa exchange.
November 2025- Handed out Chocolate Advent Calendars and Keep Christ in Christmas magnets for donations to support Coats for Kids, donating more than 300 coats to kids across Kansas.
- Provided a $500 donation to each of 5 seminarians in support of their ongoing religious vocations and formation.
- Collected 525 turkeys, over 5000 lbs. of food donations, and $5,890 cash donation in support of Catholic Charities helping those in need this holiday season.
- Donated $400 to the Wyandotte Pregnancy Center via matching funds from the Kansas State Supreme Council based on SMA’s baby bottle money collections.
- Donated $1925 to iCare Ministries, Inc resulting from the tootsie roll drive and SMA parishioner contributions.
October 2025
- Participated in the annual Christmas in October event assisting a widower living in Kansas City, KS making critical home improvements and repairs.
- Handed out Tootsie Rolls for donations to support the iCare Initiative.
September 2025
- Held Quarterly Food Drive collection of over 3655 pounds of food and $1085 in money for Catholic Charities through the generosity of SMA parishioners
- Made major upgrades and improvements to the Knights Holy Smoker for the upcoming Parish picnic and future Fish Fry’s
- Prepared, cooked, and fed approximately 1000 people at the St. Michaels annual Parish Picnic.
August 2025- Completed football raffle ticket sales funding seminarians in most need of financial assistance.
- Donated funds to the Father Kapaun statute to be built at the State Capitol in Topeka
- Made donation of over $9,100 to Olathe/Wyandotte Pregnancy Center from funds raised in the Baby Bottle Drive, Life Savers, and Mother's Day Roses activities.
- Contributed $1000 towards helping purchase a new tabernacle for a parish in Uganda
- Awarded “Star Council” by the Kansas State Supreme Chapter, one of the highest awards for a Knights Council in the State of Kansas

July 2025- Students to Steubenville Breakfast for 225 people prior to road trip
- Knights Summer Social and general Men's Assembly – Celebrating a Star Council Award!
- Members volunteered to support the flag program as part of 4th Degree Knights
- Hand out flyers/bags for quarterly food drive and collected food/donations - benefiting Catholic Charities
- Summer Life Teen Kick Off-over 100 students- K of C prepared food for all
- Vacation Bible School- pizza lunch provided to students, volunteers and parents
- Collected Baby Bottles (Fathers Day)-fundraising for WyCo Pregnancy Center/Grace Maternity Ctr.
- Voter Registration at SMA
- Presented a check to the “Backpack” Ministry program
- Recruitment for members attending Knights Conception Abbey Retreat
May-April 2025- Baby Bottle Distribution-fund raising benefiting WyCo Pregnancy Center/Grace Maternity Center
- Mother's Day Roses-benefiting WyCo Pregnancy Center/Grace Maternity Center
- Prepared and catered the Men’s Welcome Breakfast at St. Michael
- Delegation of 4 Knight's attended the State Convention of K of C
- Celebrated Cinco de Mayo after May Knights meeting
February-March 2025- Quarterly Food Drive-collection of food donations and funds for Catholic Charities
- Defenders' Ball- K of C supported Trivia Night and Parish Fund Raiser Event
- Hosted Lenten Fish Fry-every Friday during 6 weeks of Lent
January 2025
- Life Saver Sunday with American Heritage Girls and Pro-Life benefiting the Wyandotte County-Olathe Pregnancy Centers with over $1200 in donations from generous SMA parishioners
- Supporting Defenders' Ball Trivia Night helping net over $5000 in contributions
- Sponsoring and managing the K of C annual Free Throw Contest for over 60 SMA school kids
- Coordinated collection of needed food, clothing, and other home care donations, along with over $60,000 in gift cards and checks, to support California fire victims, and driving a fully loaded truck and delivering these SMA donations to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Altadena.
